September Workshop Nearly Full
Randy Broadnax and Don Ellis will come to the Grand Valley in September for a 5-day workshop. This will be a memorable experience to treaure for a lifetime
Workshop Details
This workshop will be a 5-day event starting on Thursday,
September 4th and concluding on Monday, September 8th. The location of the workshop will be at Bob Walsh's (Bullseye Pottery) studio in Mack CO, about 20 miles west of Grand Junction. The cost is $300
for members and $350 for non-members (membership is $20). There will also
be room for 3 to 5 observers at $200, or day-rates at $75. We have 15
people committed to the workshop. We will need 1/2 payment by June 1st,
with the balance due by August 1st. We will have room for about 17 wheel
throwers, as well as the observers. The down payment of 1/2 is not
refundable. Please send checks payable to JCAG at 635 Brooks Court Grand
Junction CO 81504, so that I can log people in on a first-come, first served
basis.
What you will get
Participants in this workshop will: 1) increase their throwing skills by up to 100% with techniques that Randy and Don will teach, 2) Learn how to do low-salt firing, learn how to do high-salt firing, 3) how to build a "Texas Glow Worm Kiln" under the direction of Randy, 4) The use of and formulae for cone 6 lichen glazes, 5) The use of and formulae for cone 6 oxidation glazes that look like cone 10 reduction glazes, 6) The use of colored engobes, 7) the use of commercial glazes, 8) How to do copper matte firing, 8) How to do copper flashing firing, 9) How to employ alternative throwing techniques, 10) Good food, 11) Good food, and 11)Good food - Making art takes a lot of energy.
At the 2004 workshop, Randy fed the masses with a genuine Cajun jambalaya and promises to do the same this year. Also, workshop participants will pool their resources to make sure no one goes hungry!!
