Joanie's Artistic Background

I have loved working with clay since my first experience with the material as a child growing up in the midwest in both Iowa and Illinois.

My wanderlust brought me to Greeley, CO and the University of Northern Colorado where I recieved a BFA in 1975. In 1979 my husband Charlie and I settled in Grand Junction, CO where the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains and the desert meet and continue to provide delight in our daily lives. Since that time clay has been a passion.

In 1985 I began working with JoJo Creations making porcelain jewelry. In 1992 the desire to work on a larger scale with a potters wheel took over and Clayscapes emerged.

Full time production pottery has ensued and I try to combine quality thin walled vessels with beautiful form. Continuing education through workshops and classes provide me with inspiration and a growing line of work.

My hope is that these pottery forms provide you with enjoyment for the gracious art of living.
