Business

JCAG Website
In order to maximize the usefulness of the wonderful website that Andrea is hosting for the Guild, we need to keep the content current. In order to do this, we will need to have one new story each month for the home page.

  • January - Harold will do a story on the Art Center Exhibition.
  • February - Ron Cloyd will talk about the Artspace show and sale.
  • March - will be about the paperclay workshop and will be written by Mary Mansfield.

Some of the great capabilities of our website are: a blog area, a gallery area where members can put pictures of their work, a calendar of events, links to other clay art organizations, an education/technical information section, an online store, a listing of opportunities for clay artists. At present, the Guild is utilizing only an extremely small percentage of the capabilities of this very powerful resource. A major emphasis in 2007 will be to make this tool work and produce tangible results for our membership.

Paperclay Workshop
We welcome the opportunity to have Sandy Early for a workshop in Paperclay sculpture. Below is a short bio for Sandy:

Sandy Early has been building and firing hand-built and wheel-thrown pottery and sculpture as well as silver jewelry for more than 20 years. She combines a palette of rich colors with textures drawn from the natural environment, drawing from experiences in the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Northwest. She teaches pottery classes for the City of Lakewood and drawing classes at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Her work can be seen at several galleries in Colorado and Florida including The Evergreen Gallery in Evergreen, the Blue River Gallery in Frisco, and the Wild Side Gallery in Key West, Fla.  She holds a degree in art education from the University of Northern Colorado.

The date for this 3-day workshop will be late April to early May.

*PLEASE INDICATE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS WORKSHOP BY REPLYING ASAP, SO THAT ALL OF THE NECESSARY ARRANGEMENTS CAN BE MADE.

Advertising/Press Releases/PSA’s

Susan Wallace, who has done an exemplary job of letting the media know of our activities and events will not be able to continue in this capacity. Ronda Clark will be our media representative for the new year. Thanks to Susan for her contributions to the Guild and appreciation to Ronda for volunteering to assume the responsibility for this important function.

Kids Outreach

Sue Parker has agreed to work with Ben & Mary McFarlin in coordinating a Guild outreach project with the local 4-H group. Details will be forthcoming.

Election of Officers

It was decided by the membership to retain the current slate of Officers: Mary McFarlin as Treasurer, Cindy Logue as Vice-President and Harold Snider as President.
